Our next meeting will be on Sunday 9th October 2011 starting 2.30pm at Mount Haviland, Bath. Discussion will be on ideas arising from the national SoF conference topic - "Brain, Belief and Behaviour".

We shall also have updates on the “Solarity” website project - which was one of the conference workshops.
The world’s many religions have a wealth of stories. These stories are often set at specific times, in particular places and assume the cosmological understanding of their authors. But, as members of the Sea of Faith, we believe the stories are to be explored for the things that are timeless and universally applicable to the human condition.
The project, currently called “Solarity”, originated in the Wessex SoF Group and is gaining interest throughout the SoF national network. The aim is to create a website with a fund of material which draws on the world’s stories in ways that are liberating and compatible to modern thinking rather than being literal and restrictive in understanding. The material should be suitable for use by leaders of groups of different ages such as Youth Groups, Sunday Schools, and study groups (including SoF groups). The material should provide background information as well as questions designed to stimulate group discussion. The draft website can be found at: www.sofsolarity.org.uk/draft001/ This draft website is still a matter of discussion so constructive comments – illustrated with a sample of material suitable for a specific age group will be welcomed!

(We also plan to meet on 27th November.)
